New Portal I have created a new portal to the website so that now you can see the News, Upcoming Events, and the Five most recent posts on Chief Delphi. Now I am going to start working on some more complicated stuff. upcoming events May 29th Upbeat Picnic Houston, Texas The Techno-Nuts were thrill to participate in the National FIRST Robotics Competition in Houston, Texas held at the Reliant Astrodome. Texas was a big change from Disney. Instead of the 3-minute walk from the pits to the fields that the team is use to, we were told to head out early from the pits because it is a 10-minute walk to the fields. But, we quickly found out that it was more of a 10-minutes run going up two fights of ramps and down another, while pulling a robot on a cart. Thanks to the programmers, we had a remarkable dead reckoning program for the autonomous mode. At the end of the two days of vigorous competition, we were in 50th place in the Galileo Division. While in Houston team 155 also toured NASA Space Center, rode high-speed roller coasters at the Astroworld Amusement Park, and watched an exciting baseball game in the Astrodome. The techno-nuts are looking forward to BattleCry4@WPI on June 14! Houston Here We Come! The team is ready to go, all last minute details have been taken care of. We will arrive in Houston at 10:20pm on Wednesday April 9th. While we are there Julie will be posting up-dates on how the team is doing in the competition. Stay tuned for more news. New England Regional Competition The Techno-nuts won the highly sought after Spirit Award at the New England Regional Competition. Team 155 continuously cheered though the day. With orange Go Nuts sign waving in the air and Nick Galotti, former team member, and Eileen Roberts, leading the way, we loudly cheered for every team. A few people even lost their voices! The outstanding programmers did an impressive job at quickly solving the small problems that arose. At the end of the first day of the competition, we tied for 12th. We confidently went into the second day. Unfortunately, on the second day of the competition, we were in alliances with teams having problems, and we dropped to 22nd place. Everyone had a great time, the robot is running well, and the Techno-nuts are eagerly looking forward to Houston! Nutty 4 is ready to go! After six weeks and two days, Nutty is almost ready to go into his shipping crate. The robot has taken on the form we designed and is ready for competition. Last minute details are being taken care of by the programming team but we are confident the robot will perform as designed. The Chairman's award team has finished their document and should be mailing it out today. Reminder to all of you going to Houston, I need your check by Thursday February 20. Pasta Supper The Berlin FIRST Robotics team is sponsoring a pasta supper fundraiser on Friday February 14 at the VFW Hall Berlin, CT. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12. We plan on having another Bottle & Can drive on Sat. Dec 14 Bottles November 15 Friday Members: Help sort bottle in the science courtyard, McGee at 2:30 pm. November 16 Saturday Bottle drive 9am-12 noon Members: Help needed from 9-1 pm. Sign up is being done by Mr. Hall tedhall1@prodigy.net Bash at the Beach After a long day of competing and watching our rank go up and down we were up against Rhode Warriors Team 121 from Middletown RI in a regular match. In this match we were able to defend our posistion making it so that they recieved zero points causing them to drop from first place to fifth. Due to our cunning skills this caused us to be allied with them in the elimination matches. The elimination matches were teamed up by rank and not by selection. The other team we were matched up with was Rosie Robotics Team 839 from Agawam MA. We made it to the finals where we met up with WPI Team 190. It was looking grim for us to win since we know it is hard to beat WPI but we did pull it off and we won our first competition in almost ten years. Our team also won the TIC-Tack-Tow contest with a pull of 300lbs. Thanks to all who attended this event,Mr. Balkun,Bob from Belimo, Mr. Mukon, Mr. Hall, Mrs. Stepenson, Julie Carpenter, Paul Griswold, Andrew Hall, Andrew Mukon, Lauren Sanders and Alex Stephenson. River Rage At River Rage in Manchester, NH, we did exceptionally well. Five members attended: Kristen Delldonna (Buttons), Andrew Hall (Camera), Aaron Siegler (Human player), Ryan Zelek (Coach), and Julie Carpenter (Driver). At beginning we were in second place. Then Nick Galotti came up to Gris saying, I never thought that Id say this, but youre in 1st place. Well, that came to a shock to us all. We held first place until the last match of the day. Looking on from the sidelines, we helplessly watched Team 95 knock us down to second place. Then due to a miscalculation of three points in another teams score we ended up in third place. Overall we did great and had fun day! Team Forum From reading the Minutes of the 2002 Team Forum here are the changes that will be made: Battlecry@WPI 3 On Saturday, June 15th the Techno-nuts made history! Our team made it to the finals of a competition. After winning 4 out of 5 matches in the qualifying rounds we were selected to an alliance with National Champions Rage and the SE-HO-BOTS from Watertown. We advanced throught the quarter finals and the semis to do battle with WPI and the Rhode Warriors from RI. Julie Carpenter was cool under fire as she handled our robot and overpowered our opponents. We took the first match but lost the remaining two as the SE-Ho-BOT robot had difficulty latching on to a goal and Rage ended up being knocked on its' side in the final match. Great job team! Finally on the Wall This is finally on the Berlinwall! Put everything on the website I finally put everything onto the Berlin FIRST site! Status Update I now have the news, users, and events all setup to be able to add, edit, and delete entries. Events Created the Event display which took many hours to create.
