McGee Summer Reading 2008 Instructions

McGee Middle School Summer Reading
Instructions for Students

Teachers and librarians at your grade level have recommended the authors listed in this packet. They represent a range of genre, topic, and level of challenge and will encourage you to laugh, dream, make personal connections, and gain information as you read.

This author list has been given to the Berlin libraries so that students in grade 5 may obtain the titles. Students in grades 6 and 7 will have an opportunity in June to select books from McGee’s Library Media Center during an ILA class.

Directions for Students Entering Grades 6, 7 and 8

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1. Read at least three books during the summer. You may select books by any of the authors listed in this packet with the exception of those noted with an asterisk (*). These exceptions are books that you might read as class novels during your time at McGee.<!--[endif]-->

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->Each time you finish a book, choose one of the reading response questions listed in this packet and type a final copy of your response on a separate sheet of paper. If you are unable to type your response, you may write it neatly by hand. (Remember to list your book title on your Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge form!)

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3. <!--[endif]-->In addition to the three books required by McGee, list all other books you read this summer on your Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge form. (Note: Titles applied to your Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge form should include books written by authors appearing on McGee’s Summer Reading List of Authors as well as authors not found on the list.)

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4. <!--[endif]-->Bring your three responses and your Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge form to your ILA teacher on the first day of school.

Relax, read some great books, and have a wonderful summer!
