McGee PTO Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:10 pm.

Secretary’s Minutes – minutes of June 3^rd read and moved to approve by Nancy Luddy, seconded by Michelle Pitkin.

Treasurer’s Report – Michelle Pitkin - $11,ooo check made out to McGee. 

Sept. starting balance -$3,751.93

Principal’s Report – Brian Benigni –Art dept. to paint tables for 8^th grade courtyard.  Don’t have umbrellas yet, due to prices vary.  PTO vote – umbrella price not to exceed $150.00 per umbrella. 

Question to PTO, can PTO fund some of costs for McGee Musical?

Vice Principal Report – Brenda Janik –possible change for 7^th and 8^th grade open house schedule:  Parents meet in Auditorium for Introduction by Mr. Benigni and also Exploratory teachers, then move to another location to meet with Team teachers.  This way parents meet with whole team instead of going to each class.

Dean of Students-   Introduce Kelly Maio, new Dean of Students.  Please contact her with any questions.

Committees:

Membership-   Sonal Dottor and Laura Swain – 233 families joined. 15 faculty joined.  $5.oo per family. Still looking for more membership.

Wrapping Paper-   Laurie Wilhelm – 112 orders- this year profit approx. $4,000.

Yankee Candle – Cheryl Sylvain – orders down this year.  Tried to start earlier so that items received before holidays.  $3,600 profit,  $1,000  less than last year.  Lisa DeGroff to take over this fundraiser next year.

Book Fair – Helen DeRito- Agreed to keep book fair in spring.

Jewelry Sale – Faith Asal – Last year first time for this fundraiser, will extend sale time to 2 weeks instead of 1 week.  Will be springtime fundraiser.

Roger’s receipts – Need volunteer.

Box Tops – Need volunteer.

8^th Grade Dance – need one or two people to head.  Date set for June 12^th, may change depending on snow days.

8^th Grade Promotion –Need volunteer.

New Business

Teacher/faculty Luncheon – consider moving to May, due to Education Week being very busy.

8^th Grade Courtyard – discussed in Principal’s report.

Other Business:

Received thank you note to PTO from Mrs. Orabi for new desk chair.
